Los Angeles Lakers made roster move on Sunday
USA TODAY Sports

Currently 25-29, the Los Angeles Lakers are running out of time to turn their season around and they may very well utilize the trade deadline to do so.

LeBron James is on the verge of becoming the NBA's all-time leading scorer, but making the playoffs and contending for another title seems to be at the top of his "to-do" list with the Lakers this season.

What Los Angeles decides to do is unknown at this time, especially with trad rumors surrounding Russell Westbrook. However, on Sunday, the team made a roster move with rookie guard Max Christie.

According to the team's release, the Lakers assigned Christie to the South Bay Lakers in the NBA G League.

This is nothing surprising, as Christie has been up and down all season long from the G League.

Drafted 35th overall in this past year's draft, Max Christie has begun to earn himself more minutes as of late and he recently had a stretch in January where he played at least 20 minutes in three straight games.

In a total of 33 games with the Lakers this season, Christie has averaged 3.8 points and 2.2 rebounds in about 14.5 minutes per game. He is also shooting 42.6 percent from three-point range this season.

The Lakers will be back in action on Tuesday at home when they welcome the Oklahoma City Thunder to Los Angeles, a game in which LeBron James could surpass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the top spot on the NBA's all-time scoring list.

Christie will likely be recalled by the team ahead of this game.
